Effective July 1, 2010. Computerized training, without live instruction, authorized for EAP and Fire Safety Plan training and drills (Instructional Drills). Must be interactive and include an evaluation of the staff member's understanding of the training materials. Can use this method for up to half of the required training sessions per year.

October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2014. When an FSD or Deputy FSD renews their Certificate of Fitness, they must produce written proof that they attended a new 7-hour training course called Building Operation, Maintenance and Recordkeeping Training Course. Numerous Fire Code and Building Code topics will be covered. Fire Alarm Systems, Sprinklers, Emergency Power Systems, Portable Fire Extinguishers, Commercial Cooking Systems, Smoke Control Systems, Refrigerating Systems, and Hot Work are among the major topics covered.


Effective July 1, 2010.Construction site Fire Safety Manager title takes effect. Seven hour course needed. More on this as details become available.


April 6, 2006, an Office Building Fire Safety Director becomes the building's Fire Safety/EAP Director and will be the person responsible for implementing the building's Emergency Action Plan. Click here to familiarize yourself with the new law.
